What is the Armed Forces Covenant?
The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise from the nation to those who serve or who have served, and their families, which says we will do all we can to ensure they are
treated fairly and not disadvantaged in their day-to-day lives. The Armed Forces Covenant relies on the people, communities, and businesses of the UK to actively
support it in order to make a difference. The Government is committed to supporting the Armed Forces community by
working with a range of partners who have signed the Armed Forces Covenant. The Covenant brings together the Government, businesses, local authorities, charities
and the public in order to support those who serve.
Site Authorisation Services and the Covenant
Site Authorisation Services Ltd was formed in 2019 but it’s founder started his career years before.
Mark Thatcher joined the Royal Navy back in 2000 and spent 13 years as a Marine Engineer, working with Gas Turbines, Deisel Generators, Electrical Systems, Fuel Systems, Hydraulic and pneumatic systems and more. Serving on HMS Portland, Naval Engineering Falkland Islands (NEFI), HMS Sutherland, HMS Montrose and HMS Enterprise. The sense of camaraderie and belonging within the HM Forces was strong, and the community mindset of living, working, socialising and spending most of their lives together, entwined deeply through good and bad times, often in fast paced environments meant that when the decision was made to leave that setting, the transition into “Civvy Street” was not plain sailing. A small community was carved out with likeminded veterans in London which allowed for that sense of brotherhood to remain which eased some of the burden felt on several of the communities’ service leavers.
After leaving the Navy and spending these years to date working in the built environment, seeing many forces leavers join the ever-growing numbers in civilian street it was an ambition to pledge to work with and promote as many of the veteran community and seek to act as a sort of conduit to ease the conversion into the wider world and share skills and enhance each other’s offering.
Site Authorisation Services Ltd commit to uphold the Armed Forces Covenant and support the Armed Forces Community We recognise the contribution that Service personnel, both regular and reservist, veterans and military families make to our organisation, our community and to the country.
